The Design Story of Gaia

The Gaia Swivel Dining Chair was designed as an exploration of grounded elegance, where form, comfort, and movement coexist effortlessly.

Inspired by the idea that a dining chair should feel as intentional as a lounge-Piece, Gaia was shaped around the human form. Its elongated, softly curved back was designed to support the torso comfortably, allowing diners to sit upright without feeling rigid. The silhouette wraps gently around the body, offering a sense of enclosure while remaining visually light.

Inspired by Place & Form
Gaia draws inspiration from European interiors where dining is unhurried from long dinners in Parisian apartments to sculptural seating found in modern Milanese homes. The chair’s continuous curves echo architectural forms seen in stone staircases, arched doorways, and organic modern furniture from the mid-century era.

Material & Construction
Upholstered in Warm Ecru Bouclé, Gaia’s texture was chosen to introduce softness and depth without overpowering the space. The fabric’s tactile quality contrasts beautifully with the chair’s clean lines, creating a balance of comfort and refinement.

The swivel base was intentionally integrated to enhance functionality at the table, allowing ease of movement without disrupting the chair’s composed profile. This detail makes Gaia ideal for both intimate dining rooms and larger, open-plan spaces.

The Brass Handle
